- Project Title: Study the Scientific Basics for Planning of Solid waste Management in Second Category Cities to the year 2010 and orientation up to the year 2010 - Applying for Ha Long City- Quang Ninh Province. Task force team leader:Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thi Kim Thai, Head- Environmental Technology & Management. Implementing Organization: National University of Civil Engineering. Implementing duration: 02 year
1. Objectives:
To establish a uniform system of multi-fields on organizing, planning of solid waste collection, transfer stations and treatment facilities with different solutions of solid waste treatment technologies in order to improve efficiency of municipal solid waste management for the second category cities in general and for Ha Long City in particular.
1. Creativeness and innovativeness
The Project ” Study the Scientific Basics for Planning of Solid waste Management in Second Category Cities to the year 2010 and orientation up to the year 2010 - Applying for Ha Long City- Quang Ninh Province “ has recommended the scientific basics, established a set of criteria for selecting sites for solid waste treatment facilities, selecting collection routes and criteria for selecting the technologies for planning of municipal solid waste in the urban cities of Vietnam in general and second category cities in particular.
The recommendations of the study have successfully applied in the fact of planning of solid waste management for Ha long city- Quang Ninh Province according to the orientation up to the year 2020. Based on the success of applying in planning of solid waste management for Quang Ninh Province and for Ha long city, the steps of the planning process for solid waste management which recommended by the project has being introduced in to the technical guideline published by Ministry of Construction to disseminate to the cities, provinces in whole country for applying in process of planning for solid waste management.
